Swedish researchers at Chalmers University of Technology and Sahlgrenska Academy have successfully induced human cartilage cells to live and grow in an animal model, using 3D bioprinting.
Professor Jane Irvine, of York University's psychology department, is helping those heart patients who must use miniature implanted defibrillators to cope with the psychological stress caused by these devices. Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs) are programmed to electrically shock the heart in the event of a life threatening heart rhythm incident.
More than 14-million Americans, with chronic or life altering diseases and cancer, can't afford the medication they need because of the high out-of-pocket costs associated with their insurance coverage. That's why the Chronic Disease Fund, a nonprofit organization, provides financial help to seriously ill Americans so they can get the medications they need to live without the fear of debt.
Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, Inc. a biotechnology company with fully integrated commercial and drug development operations with a primary focus in oncology, today announced that it has been awarded grants totaling $977,900 under the Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project (QTDP) Program administered under section 48D of the Internal Revenue Code.
Nine southern African countries and donors have gathered in Namibia for the second regional leadership Health Information Systems (HIS) meeting to discuss "how recipient countries should take ownership of these systems," New Era reports.
