Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) will kick-off basketball season by facing the city of Philadelphia's "Big 5" college basketball coaches on the court at the University of Pennsylvania's Palestra Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. Team PHLY will tip-off against Coaches Fran Dunphy (Temple), Phil Martelli (Saint Joseph's), Bruiser Flint (Drexel), John Giannini (La Salle), Glen Miller (University of Pennsylvania) and Jay Wright (Villanova) to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Officials gathered in Washington, D.C. on Thursday to launch mWomen, an initiative aimed at increasing access to mobile phones to further health and development benefits among women in the developing countries, the Telegraph reports.
"With one billion people chronically hungry and Earth's population expected to increase by 50 percent before the end of the century, it's time to get serious about family planning," a Los Angeles Times editorial states.
ARAMARK Canada Ltd., a leader in providing professional food services to more than 150 middle and high schools across Ontario, is in full support of the Ontario Ministry of Education's Policy Memorandum No. 150, School Food and Beverage Policy, setting nutrition standards for food and beverages sold in publicly funded elementary and secondary schools in Ontario.
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Advocacy Alliance thanked Congress and the Administration for a six-month extension of enhanced federal funding for Medicaid, which was signed into law Tuesday night. The additional federal aid will help stave off potential cuts to programs that provide breast cancer screening and treatment for underserved women.
