Researchers have conducted a study suggesting that the B.1.617 lineage of SARS-CoV-2 that emerged in India has evolved a unique strategy.
There are several challenges to be overcome if therapeutic anticancer vaccines, which are designed to boost the patient's anticancer immune response, are to be successfully developed. For example, the viruses used to deliver the tumor protein to the patient's immune system are themselves targeted by the patient's immune system, inducing neutralizing and suppressive responses. But now, a team of researchers, led by Michael Morse, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, has developed a way to overcome these neutralizing and suppressive responses by using an alphavirus packaged in virus-like replicon particles.
The N.C. Stroke Association announced today that it has made a $15,000 grant to Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, N.C., to assist in the development of the hospital's stroke program on its route to achieve Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center certification.
Thousands of women suffer from overactive bladder (OAB) or the sudden need to urinate, yet many don't get relief from medication. Researchers at Loyola University Health System believe certain bacteria may be to blame.
