A new study by researchers from Rush University Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine using mice indicate that a child's memory and the severity of learning disorders may be affected by what his or her mother did when she was a child.
Researchers led by the Marien Hospital Herne, a Ruhr-Universität Bochum clinic, have investigated the extent to which mRNA vaccines protect dialysis patients from infection with variants of concerns of Sars-Cov-2.
Increasing calcium intake is a common-yet not always successful-strategy for reducing bone fractures. But a study supported in part by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) underscores the importance of vitamin D and its ability to help the body utilize calcium. The study also may explain why increasing calcium alone isn't always successful in dealing with this problem.
Research presented today shows that high-fructose corn syrup can cause behavioural reactions in rats similar to those produced by drugs of abuse such as cocaine. These results, presented by addiction expert Francesco Leri, Associate Professor of Neuroscience and Applied Cognitive Science at the University of Guelph, suggest food addiction could explain, at least partly, the current global obesity epidemic.
The Lewy Body Dementia Association and the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation have awarded $100,000 each to Omar El-Agnaf, PhD, of United Arab Amirates University and Michelle Mielke, PhD, of Mayo Clinic Rochester to provide one year of support for their research projects focused on developing indicators, or biomarkers, for dementia with Lewy bodies.
