Howard Hughes Medical Institute scientists at The Salk Institute have discovered a new class of optical illusion that they have studied in detail to show that humans use both the timing and spatial context of a visual stimulus to judge brightness.
Infertility is consistently listed as one of the most distressing long-term side effects of cancer treatment for adolescents and young adults. Yet the leading National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers - which should be leaders in fertility preservation - aren't doing an adequate job of helping patients protect their fertility, reports a new Northwestern Medicine- study.
Researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine have discovered impaired neuronal activity in the parts of the brain associated with anticipatory functioning among occasional 18- to 24-year-old users of stimulant drugs, such as cocaine, amphetamines and prescription drugs such as Adderall.
According to the American Cancer Society, our lifetime risk of developing colorectal cancer is about 1 in 20. This March, join Saint Louis University to share the message that prevention can stop colorectal cancer before it starts and help us change these odds.
