Johns Hopkins biomedical engineers have teamed up with clinicians to create a new drug-delivery strategy for a type of central vision loss caused by blood vessel growth at the back of the eye, where such growth should not occur.
Akashi Therapeutics, Inc., announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted Fast Track designation to the company's most advanced product candidate, HT-100 (delayed-release halofuginone), an orally available, small molecule drug candidate intended to reduce fibrosis and inflammation and promote healthy muscle regeneration in boys with DMD.
The Tennessee Biotechnology Association and its Graduate Alliance are jointly hosting an afternoon of biotech, business, and law on December 7th, 2009. This event will be held at Belmont University with a reception at 5pm sponsored by i3 Research.
Bioengineers from Rice University and physicians from Emory University are going to test whether a new "law of biology" can predict when a critically ill patient is about to worsen, and more importantly, which treatment is likely to prevent it.
