Researchers today presented results from the Phase III DEFINE (Determining the EFficacy and Tolerability of CETP INhibition with AnacEtrapib) study with Merck's investigational CETP inhibitor, anacetrapib. In the trial of 1,623 patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) or CHD risk equivalents, anacetrapib showed no significant differences from placebo in the primary safety measures studied.
Findings reported today from a new international study of healing prayer suggest that prayer for another person's healing just might help especially if the one praying is physically near the person being prayed for.Candy Gunther Brown, an associate professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Indiana University Bloomington, led the study of "proximal intercessory prayer" for healing. It is available online today and will be published in the September 2010 issue of the Southern Medical Journal.
Glide Pharma, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the needle-free administration of solid dose therapeutics and vaccines, today announced that it has completed an oversubscribed GBP2.7 million ($4.3 million) investment round. The fundraising was supported by a number of existing institutional and private investors, including Hygea VCT and Oxford Technology VCTs.
