Americans' confidence in their ability to obtain and afford healthcare continued its decline in November, falling another point according to a consumer sentiment index produced by Thomson Reuters.
Scientists at Columbia University's Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute, Columbia University Medical Center, and the Université Paris Descartes have found that deficits in social memory-a crucial yet poorly understood feature of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia-may be due to a decrease in the number of a particular class of brain cells, called inhibitory neurons, in a little-explored region within the brain's memory center.
A safe, noninvasive weak electrical current delivery called transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) will be investigated for its potential in treating schizophrenia patients in a study led by Raymond Cho, M.D., M.Sc., at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
A baby sling is a long strip of cloth that is used to support the baby across the front or side of the care giver's body. New warnings have come to the forefront linking these innocuous baby slings to infant deaths. US health authorities have warned parents that tiny babies may be at a suffocation risk from these slings. Reports say that these slings have caused the death of 14 babies over the last 20 years including 3 last year. Of these 12 babies were less than 4 months old.
