In what will be of great concern to many parents, scientists who have carried out a survey of arsenic levels in three common brands of rice-based baby foods say they have found that arsenic levels in the foods are too high.
ChemGenex Pharmaceuticals Limited announced that positive safety findings from a combined analysis of two clinical trials for its lead product candidate, OMAPRO™ (omacetaxine mepesuccinate), were presented today during a poster discussion session at the 2010 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.
SonarMed, a developer and manufacturer of critical care respiratory monitoring technologies, announced that it has received Food and Drug Administration clearance for its patented SonarMed Airway Monitoring System, which monitors breathing tubes for patients requiring ventilators.
This week a senator followed House lawmakers' lead by introducing a bill that would let the children of federal employees remain on their parents' health insurance until age 26, starting this year. Under the health reform law President Obama signed in March, the cutoff age would have increased from 22 to 26 in January 2011 for Federal Employees Health Benefits Program participants, due to laws that prevent the Office of Personnel Management from making midyear changes.
The Department of Health and Human Services and Florida officials negotiate changes to the state's Medicaid plan. In the meantime, Arkansas doctors offer a cautious endorsement as the state tries "episodic" payments for some common conditions.
