Janssen-Cilag announced today that ustekinumab, the first in a new class of biologics, has received a positive opinion for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis from the European Committee for Medical Products for Human Use (CHMP).
Eli Lilly and Company and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation today announced that they have signed an agreement to fund early-stage research that could enable patients with type 1 diabetes to regenerate insulin-producing cells destroyed by the disease.
Results of an advanced clinical trial of an antiretroviral-based microbicide candidate are being announced at the International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria. The CAPRISA 004 trial, which tested the safety and effectiveness of 1% tenofovir gel among nearly 900 women at two sites in South Africa, found that using the gel before and after sex provided moderate protection against sexually transmitted HIV.
