Workers reporting high levels of job strain have higher blood pressure than workers who are under less strain, reports a study in the April Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, official publication of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM).
In a study focusing on the role of self-donated (autologous) bone marrow-derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in placental vascular development, researchers in Japan have discovered that when transplanted into pregnant mice, EPCs can contribute to better blood vessel growth that helps in forming "normalized" placental vascularization, leading, in turn, to reduced recurrent miscarriages by providing a healthier fetal environment during gestation.
Although the U.S. has "relatively abundant resources available to those living with HIV," socioeconomic gaps continue to lead to higher rates of the virus among marginalized groups in the country, Christine Jolly, president of AIDS Care Service, writes in a Winston-Salem Journal opinion piece.
There are no scientific studies showing that lymphedema can be prevented, but there are ways to lower your risk of developing this treatment side effect. During the 10th Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer, we will explore the myths and recent scientific evidence about lymphedema, learn about risk reduction techniques and discuss approaches to lymphedema management, including exercise, physical therapy, lymphatic drainage, massage and other treatment methods.
