A new study led by pediatric endocrinologist Adda Grimberg, M.D., of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, proposes to reframe the debate. "We set out to answer a new question," said Grimberg. "What are the factors, perceived or real, that drive some families to seek medical care for short stature?"

Reporting in the journal Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications (BBRC), bioengineering researchers at UC San Diego published videos of a key message-carrying protein called paxillin moving abruptly from hubs of communication and transportation activity on the cell surface toward the nucleus.
A recently-developed mobile phone application could make monitoring conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, and urinary tract infections much clearer and easier for both patients and doctors, and could eventually be used to slow or limit the spread of pandemics in the developing world.
