Emergent BioSolutions receives early termination grant to acquire Trubion

Emergent BioSolutions Inc. announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 ("HSR Act"), as amended, with respect to the planned acquisition of Trubion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. by Emergent BioSolutions announced on August 12, 2010.

Study confirms long-term durability of endoscopic RFA using HALO system for eradicating Barrett's esophagus

Results from two major multi-center clinical trials presented at the Digestive Disease Week in New Orleans independently confirmed that the effects of endoscopic radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for eradicating a pre-cancerous condition of the esophagus called Barrett's esophagus are durable in the long-term. In a plenary scientific presentation titled "Endoscopic Radiofrequency Ablation for Barrett's Esophagus: Five-year Durability Outcomes from a Prospective Multi-Center Trial," patients with Barrett's esophagus were treated with endoscopic RFA using the HALO system.

PCORI Board awards $18 million for two new studies on sickle cell disease

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Board of Governors today approved about $18 million to fund two studies comparing different ways to manage the transition of people with sickle cell disease from pediatric to adult care.
