How well can two questions identify underage drinking? Jonathan Tubman, Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Research and a developmental psychologist, was recently awarded a $2.4 million grant from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, (NIAAA) part of the National Institutes of Health, to investigate the validity of a two-question screener designed to promote early identification of and intervention with alcohol use problems among children and teenagers.
"John Kerry has only held the office of U.S. Secretary of State for a few weeks but has already made it known that foreign aid is one of his priorities," development blogger Tom Murphy writes in Humanosphere, adding, "Kerry says he will fight to maintain the budget of USAID and make the argument for its benefits."
New research published in the journal BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine shows Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP) packs a powerful immune punch.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and its partners will host a meeting of researchers, clinicians, patients and patient advocates to discuss spinal cord injury (SCI) research and to chart a course of future studies.
