Improved standards for outcome reporting in breast reconstruction are needed, according to a review published online December 3rd in The Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
A relatively new weapon in the fight against childhood brain cancer has emerged that improves upon standard magnetic resonance imaging by providing information about tumor metabolism and extent of cancer in children diagnosed with glioma, a growth caused by the abnormal division of glial cells in the brain, say researchers at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging's 2013 Annual Meeting.
DiagnoCure, Inc., a life sciences company commercializing high‐value cancer diagnostic tests and delivering laboratory services, today reported that its PrevistageTM GCC Colorectal Cancer Staging Test will be featured at the annual meeting of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons to be held in Vancouver, Canada, from May 15 to 17, 2011, with 3,000 expected attendees.
GLYX-13, a molecular cousin to ketamine, induces similar antidepressant results without the street drug side effects, reported a study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) that was published last month in Neuropsychopharmacology.
The most common causes worldwide include malnutrition, poor sanitary conditions and human immune deficiency virus (HIV) infection. Other causes of temporary or permanent damage to the immune system include old age, medications (e.g. cortisone, cytostatic drugs), radiotherapy, stress after surgery and malignant tumors of the bone marrow and the lymph nodes.
