Aetna today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire PayFlex Holdings, Inc., one of the nation's largest independent account-based health plan administrators, with approximately 1 million accounts and approximately 3,300 direct employer customers.
Scott Fordham, president and chief executive officer, announced that Champion Energy Services has partnered with Healthcare Coalition of Texas (HCT), headquartered in Plano, Texas, to offer their members (which represents 62,000 employees and 9,000 medical staff) preferred pricing for residential electricity throughout the state of Texas.
The longstanding ethical framework for protecting human volunteers in medical research needs to be replaced because it is outdated and can impede efforts to improve health care quality, assert leaders in bioethics, medicine, and health policy in two companion articles in a Hastings Center Report special report, "Ethical Oversight of Learning Health Care Systems."
A 16-year old Chantilly high school student died last week after a four-day hospitalization for meningitis/encephalitis. The cause does not appear to be bacterial meningitis. However, an autopsy is pending and investigation is underway.
The Department of Veterans Affairs has selected the construction contractor to build a research office building at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center on University Drive.
