A supplemental "boost" of radiation improves local control and provides an incremental benefit in decreasing breast cancer recurrence for patients with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) who receive whole breast radiation therapy radiation (WBRT) following lumpectomy, according to research presented today at the 58th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology.
Oxygen Biotherapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ and SIX Swiss Exchange: OXBT) today announced it has received a $2,075 million two-year grant from the U.S. Army to study the Company's proprietary Oxycyte® PFC emulsion as a therapeutic intervention focused on reducing brain damage in victims of traumatic brain injury (TBI).
A new study has shown that A-beta (Aβ), the protein that forms β-amyloid plaques in Alzheimer's disease, is a normal part of the immune system - raising questions about the role infection plays in Alzheimer's disease and whether current treatment strategies should be changed.
Despite years of heavy investment, female genital cutting still has major support in countries such as Somalia and Ethiopia. Well intentioned campaigns initiated by international organisations are being met with skepticism. "Changes must come from within," say researchers.
The second annual Health Care Stars! Awards will recognize significant contributions in positively impacting consumers and health care quality. URAC, the nation's leading health care accreditation organization, today announced that nominations are open for the awards which will be presented at the 11th Annual Quality Summit being held October 5-7, 2010 in Chicago, IL.
