BC Children's Hospital Foundation is calling on BC communities of all shapes, sizes and definitions to participate in its Search for a Super Community. The program, launched on September 21 on Global BC TV, gives communities across the province an opportunity to raise their profile while helping raise awareness of the need for a new BC Children's Hospital.
The transmembrane protease serine-type 2 (TMPRSS2) protein plays a key role in COVID-19 infection since it primes the viral spike protein to allow viral entry into the target cell. A new study by researchers at Imperial College London and published on the preprint server bioRxiv in May 2020 describes the protein, which could be an attractive drug target to help manage COVID-19.
Millions of people each year have polyps successfully removed during colonoscopies. According to latest the U.S. research, the number of heart patients getting bypass surgery fell by 38 percent between 2001 and 2008. This fall reflects several factors, including a decline in smoking rates, which has led to less coronary artery disease, said senior study author Dr. Peter Groeneveld, an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
