The national library network responsible for MEDLINE/PubMed and other Web-based health information services has awarded an $8.9 million contract to the Library of the Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago to serve as its Midwest regional library for another five years.
Racial stereotypes have been shown to have subtle and unintended consequences on how we treat members of different race groups. According to new research published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science, race bias also increases differences in the brain's representations of faces.
Thousands of members of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), an organization affiliated with the AFL-CIO, will head for scores of local bowling centers across the nation on Sunday, Nov. 6.
The federal support will help Oregon's Medicaid Coordinated Care Organizations as they try to cut health costs by 2 percent over two years using preventive care to keep patients healthy.
When individuals wear their hearing aids for the first time, they are flooded with sounds they have not heard in months or years; yet, previous research has shown that not all new sounds are welcomed. Ambient noises such as air conditioners, wind and background conversations can be painful, irritating and difficult to ignore, causing some individuals to stop using their hearing aids right away.
