Results of a clinical trial that began in 2001 show that a gene therapy cocktail conveyed into the brain by a molecular special delivery vehicle may help extend the lives of children with Canavan disease, a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disorder.
Approximately 57 million Americans are on the brink of diabetes. Yet research tells us that there is much we can do to keep it from progressing to full-blown diabetes. Lab tests can help us get a grip on the disease, says the American Clinical Laboratory Association President Alan Mertz.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced today 20 new grants totaling up to $27.7 million, over three years, to local organizations working to reduce chronic homelessness in their communities.
