The national Center for Reproductive Rights filed a federal lawsuit Monday to halt implementation of the requirements that women wanting an abortion must have a sonogram and hear a detailed description of the fetus. The group called the mandates patronizing and an intrusion into the doctor-patient relationship.
According to researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and Moores Cancer Center, there is finally an increase in the smoking cessation rate. The study finds that more people using e-cigarettes are responsible for quitting smoking and these electronic devices can actually help reduce the traditional smoking rates. The study was published yesterday in the British Medical Journal. Researchers looked at data from a national survey and large population based study between 2001 and 2015.
Neoprobe Corporation, a diversified developer of innovative oncology surgical and diagnostic products, today announced that it has requested and been granted a Type B pre-IND meeting with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding its RIGS® technology Biologic License Application (BLA). The pre-IND meeting request is another step in Neoprobe's efforts to develop and commercialize the RIGS technology designed to enhance the surgical treatment of patients with solid tumor cancers.
Nile Therapeutics, Inc. has announced that, in the course of reviewing the Investigational New Drug (IND) application materials that Nile submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to support the initiation of the Company's Phase IIb clinical trial with CD-NP for the treatment of acute heart failure, the FDA has placed CD-NP on clinical hold.
