New research by Professor Ann Streissguth of the University of Washington shows that people diagnosed with either fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) or fetal alcohol effect (FAE) are more likely to escape social and relationship problems if they are diagnosed early in life and raised in a stable and nurturing environment.
Researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA have published a study in the February Journal of Vascular Surgery stating that disparities in limb salvage procedures may be driven by socioeconomic status and access to high-volume hospitals.
A new study has shown that smoking can inhibit the success of treatment for alcohol abuse, putting people who are addicted to both tobacco and alcohol in a double bind.
Adventist Medical Center (AMC), a not-for-profit, faith-based health system operating a full range of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services in the Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash., areas, has saved more than 120 tons (239,075 lbs.) of paper through shredding and recycling during the past 12 months.
