A novel study published in the American College of Rheumatology journal, Arthritis & Rheumatism, shows that smaller micropolitan areas of the U.S.-those with less than 50,000 people-have very few or no practicing adult rheumatologist. In some of these areas, individuals have to travel more than 200 miles to reach the closest rheumatologist.
Roche and Trimeris today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted traditional approval to Fuzeon (enfuvirtide), the first and only fusion inhibitor for the treatment of HIV.
A new study suggests that blue-enriched light exposure immediately before and during the evening meal may increase hunger and alter metabolism.
Drastic reimbursement cuts for image-guided breast biopsies, and other medical imaging techniques in the 2014 Medicare Fee Schedule Final Rule, may further reduce women's access to mammography and other breast cancer services. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services directly cut imaging reimbursement every year since 2007. This, along with 12 Medicare imaging cuts in the last six years due to legislation, increasingly threatens patient care.
