Mylan Inc. today announced that its subsidiary Bioniche Pharma received final approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for Fludarabine Phosphate Injection USP, 25 mg/mL, packaged in 50 mg/2 mL Single-dose Vials. The product was determined to be bioequivalent and, therefore, therapeutically equivalent to Teva Parenteral's Fludarabine Phosphate Injection USP, 25 mg/mL, a chemotherapy medication for B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
Encouraging young people to do strength-based exercises - such as squats, push ups and lunges - could play a key role in tackling child obesity, research suggests.
Medicare regulations require that when patients receive some types of highly specialized cancer treatments, their radiation oncologist must be on site. But The New York Times reports that federal officials are investigating a Florida cancer clinic that billed Medicare for such treatments while the doctors were absent, sometimes on overseas trips.
Metal-binding agents rubbed into the skin, prescribed by some alternative practitioners for the treatment of autism, are not absorbed and therefore are unlikely to be effective at helping the body excrete excess mercury. The study by Jennifer Cohen and Michelle Ruha from Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in the US, and their colleagues, provides evidence against the use of these treatments in children with autism.
Women who used an injectable contraceptive called DMPA were more likely to acquire HIV than women using a similar product called NET-EN, according to a secondary analysis of data from a large HIV prevention trial called VOICE, researchers from the National Institutes of Health-funded Microbicide Trials Network reported today at the 21st Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections in Boston.
