Age, sex, alcohol consumption and liver sensitivity to gut-derived bacterial endotoxins, were the early factors defined to enhance the risk of fibrosis progression.
St. Louis-based ZeaVision, LLC announced that three recent groundbreaking studies demonstrate that Zeaxanthin (zee-uh-zan-thin), the predominate protective pigment in the back of the eye, reduces the risk for Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and benefits the treatment of advanced AMD, a condition that destroys central vision and affects millions of Americans.
A shortage of primary care physicians and low Medi-Cal reimbursement rates have made South Los Angeles "one of the most difficult places in the nation to both receive and give medical care," the New York Times reports.
Taking a daily vitamin D supplement does not prevent type 2 diabetes in adults at high risk, according to results from a study funded by National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.
