The Wall Street Journal reports that drug companies are increasingly using medical science liaisons: "Pharmaceutical companies are barred by the Food and Drug Administration from promoting unapproved drug uses, called off-label use, but they are using employees called 'medical science liaisons,' who are often physicians and pharmacists, as a legal way to discuss those uses.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved a new use of Gleevec (imatinib) to treat children newly diagnosed with Philadelphia chromosome positive (Ph+) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
The ONCOMMUN Program will receive a grant worth 900,000 euros for 2019-2020 by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology which will be used to promote well-being in cancer through new technologies.
The nation's leading scientists and clinicians exploring treatment breakthroughs for congenital muscular dystrophy will convene April 22-24 on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno, where research by Dean Burkin has led to a potential therapy.
