Scientists at the University of Adelaide in South Australia are warning women about the use of 'alternative' menopause treatments because many have not been properly tested.
Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited ("Takeda") and Takeda Global Research & Development Center, Inc., a wholly owned United States (U.S.) subsidiary, today jointly announced that the latter has received notification that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has agreed to the study design for a cardiovascular (CV) outcomes trial titled EXAMINE (EXamination of CArdiovascular OutcoMes: AlogliptIN vs. Standard of CarE in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Acute Coronary Syndrome) for alogliptin, a selective dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitor under investigation for the treatment of type 2 diabetes as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
Providers of home medical equipment and services across California are proposing a fiscally responsible alternative to the mislabeled "competitive" bidding scheme currently under way in Medicare that will actually discourage competition, reduce access to care for many of California's 4.6 million Medicare beneficiaries, and put thousands of California homecare providers out of business.
The burning of incense might need to come with a health warning. This follows the first study evaluating the health risks associated with its indoor use. The effects of incense and cigarette smoke were also compared, and made for some surprising results. The research was led by Rong Zhou of the South China University of Technology and the China Tobacco Guangdong Industrial Company in China, and is published in Springer's journal Environmental Chemistry Letters.
