The Springer journal Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry (ABC) has chosen Oluwatosin O. Dada (34) as the recipient of its Best Paper Award 2010. Dada is the lead author of a paper in ABC on capillary isoelectric focusing. The award, accompanied by 1,000 euros, was created by Springer to help exceptional young scientists establish their research careers. The ABC Best Paper Award has been given since 2005.
Cognitive neuroscientist Rosie Cowell at the University of Massachusetts Amherst recently received a five-year, $599,619 CAREER award from the National Science Foundation to develop and test a theory of how memory interacts with fine-grained visual perception and how both brain functions depend on the medial temporal lobe (MTL), which once was thought to be critical for memory but not for visual perception.
In the largest study to date that examined concerns of adult survivors of childhood cancer, a substantial proportion of survivors reported lack of concern about their future health.
