It's a long, expensive, risky road to turn a scientific breakthrough into a treatment that can help patients. Fewer organizations are trying to tackle the challenges alone, says a new paper from MIT researchers published August 28 in the journal Science Translational Medicine.
Low doses of the environmental contaminant bisphenol–A (BPA), widely used to make many plastics found in food storage containers, including feeding bottles for infants, can impair brain function, leading to learning disabilities and age–related neurodegenerative diseases, according to Yale researchers and colleagues.
Dr. Emil Kozarov and a team of researchers at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine have identified specific bacteria that may have a key role in vascular pathogenesis, specifically atherosclerosis, or what is commonly referred to as "hardening of the arteries" - the number one cause of death in the United States.
What started as basic cancer research at Creighton University has yielded promising results for diagnosing and treating asthma - and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) agrees, investing nearly $1.5 million in Creighton to find out more.
Bluegiga Technologies announced today the availability of their new Bluegiga eHealth Access Point based on Bluetooth Health Device Profile (HDP). The new technology can be utilised in various health and medical applications.
