New research shows that Alzheimer's disease and other dementing illnesses may be easily misdiagnosed in the elderly, according to early results of a study of people in Hawaii who had their brains autopsied after death. The research is being released today and will be presented as part of a plenary session at the American Academy of Neurology's 63rd Annual Meeting in Honolulu April 9 to April 16, 2011.
Politico reports that some conservatives think that despite their disdain for the health law, a number of Republican-controlled states might want to go forward with health exchanges to help lower the number of uninsured.
On-X Life Technologies, announced today that it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market the On-X Ascending Aortic Prosthesis with the Vascutek Gelweave Valsalva Graft.
Preterm infants appear to mature better if they are shielded from most wavelengths of visible light, from violet to orange. But it has been a challenge to develop a controllable light filter for preterm incubators that can switch between blocking out all light-for sleeping-and all but red light to allows medical staff and parents to check up on the kids when they're awake.
To continue their efforts to fight childhood obesity, The Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living, part of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, has been awarded a four-year grant for $3.7 million grant from the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.
