PDL BioPharma, Inc. today announced that on December 15, 2010, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (the PTO) terminated its interference proceeding between certain claims of the Company's Queen et al., U.S. Patent No. 5,585,089, (the '089 Patent) and certain pending claims of Adair et al., U.S. Application No. 08/846,658, (the '658 Application) in favor of the Company's '089 Patent.
Covidien plc, a leading global provider of healthcare products and recognized innovator in patient monitoring and respiratory care devices, today announced that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of Newport Medical Instruments, Inc. for an aggregate consideration of approximately $108 million, net of cash and short-term investments acquired.
A blood test that has shown promise in predicting how cancer will progress and what treatments will be most effective for a given patient may not be reliable for either, according to a new Penn Medicine study published this week in Cancer, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society.
"Though Texas has the nation's lowest percentage of registered organ and tissue donors, several recent initiatives have more than doubled the state's donor rolls this year.
