Medivance today announced the introduction of its next-generation therapeutic temperature management device, the non-invasive Arctic Sun 5000. The new patient cooling device has received FDA 510 (k) clearance and offers the fastest initiation of treatment, simplest programming capabilities and easiest access to treatment data on the market.
Researchers from Michigan State University and Stanford University have designed special nanoparticles which could break down an atherosclerotic plaque from within. This could prevent heart attacks say researchers. The study titled, "Pro-efferocytic nanoparticles are specifically taken up by lesional macrophages and prevent atherosclerosis," was published in the latest issue of the journal Nature Nanotechnology.
A lower metabolism, as well as slight changes in eating behavior, could explain the positive energy balance leading to being overweight in narcolepsy, according to a study published in the October 1 issue of the journal SLEEP.
