The Washington Nationals and Lansinoh Laboratories, Inc. – an Alexandria, VA-based leader in breastfeeding have partnered to create the Lansinoh Family Lounge. Conveniently located just off the First Base Line, adjacent to Section 223, the Lansinoh Lounge at Nationals Park is designed to be a quiet and cool retreat for families with young children.
With "less than 1,000 days to go until the 2015 deadline for the world's Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) ..., [t]he international community is busy examining the progress we've made and all the work remaining if we are to realize the vision that was laid out 12 years ago," Nigel Chapman, CEO of Plan International, writes in the Huffington Post's "Impact" blog.
Scientists at Duke University Medical Center have identified a new growth factor that stimulates the expansion and regeneration of hematopoietic (blood-forming) stem cells in culture and in laboratory animals. The discovery, appearing in the journal Nature Medicine, may help researchers overcome one of the most frustrating barriers to cellular therapy: the fact that stem cells are so few in number and so stubbornly resistant to expansion.
The risk of retaining a foreign object during surgery is well documented. Efforts to reduce its incidence may include the use of fewer laparotomy pads. Now there is a clinically proven device that is designed to improve surgical outcomes - The DASH™ (Disposable Absorbent Secure Hold) formable absorbent retractor, addresses the challenges of unintentional soft tissue trauma and retained foreign objects after surgery, enhancing patient safety.
Linda Watkins, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor, Department of Psychology & Neuroscience and Center for Neuroscience, University of Colorado, Co-Chair, Advisory Board, Xalud Therapeutics, Inc. will present research on activating Glial Cells as part of the speaking faculty at the 7th Annual Pain Therapeutics Summit East in Boston, MA.
