The University of Maryland announced today that a full face transplant, including double jaw and tongue, was completed today on a 37-year old male patient. The 36 hour operative procedure took place at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center and involved a multi-disciplinary team of faculty physicians from The University of Maryland School of Medicine.
In coming decades, the rise in global temperatures owing to climate change may hinder the production of wheat in many temperate regions where the crop is grown today. The raw material for bread, one of the world's most consumed foods, may become scarce and more expensive as a result.
Michael F. Holick, PhD, MD, director of the General Clinical Research Center and professor of medicine, physiology and biophysics at Boston University School of Medicine, is this year's recipient of The Delbert A. Fisher Research Scholar Award from the Endocrine Society for his scholarly work on the history of endocrinology.
Patients make more progress toward overcoming anxiety, fears and phobias when their therapy sessions are scheduled in the morning, new research suggests.
