GfK Asia releases its Pan Asia optical retailers and consumers preference survey information in line with the 17th Hong Kong Optical Fair, hosted by Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The five key regions surveyed in October 2009 include China, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Malaysia. The survey shows that 70% of optical retailers indicate business will be better or the same in 2010.
New research says that a far better way of assessing a persons heart attack risk is to look at waist-to-hip ratio rather than a person's relative height and weight.
"Three workers in a polio eradication campaign were shot in Pakistan on Wednesday, and two of them were killed, the latest in an unprecedented string of attacks over the past three days that has partially halted the U.N.-backed campaign," Reuters reports.

Researchers from UCLA's cancer and stem cell centers have demonstrated for the first time that blood stem cells can be engineered to create cancer-killing T-cells that seek out and attack a human melanoma. The researchers believe this approach could be useful in 40 percent of Caucasians with this malignancy.
