Researchers at Bournemouth University have been looking at the impact of lower-limb prosthetics on competitive running, specifically looking at whether athletes with prosthesis are at an unfair advantage when running against athletes without prosthetics.
BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. (Nasdaq: BMRN) announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has allowed claims covering the approved administration of Kuvan® (sapropterin dihydrochloride) with food, based on the discovery that food increases the bioavailability of Kuvan. The company expects that the patent, which expires in 2024, will officially issue later this year.
Low doses of an inexpensive, FDA-approved hypertension medication may improve the results of nanotherapeutic approaches to cancer treatment. In a report in the early edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) investigators describe experiments showing that the generic drug losartan, by modifying the network of collagen fibers that characterizes most solid tumors, improved the effectiveness of two nanotherapeutics against several types of cancer.
Today from Medpi 2010, Smartfish Technologies announced its second strategic partnership to distribute and sell its ErgoMotion™ technology with Mobility Lab of France. As part of its agreement with Mobility Lab, Smartfish will provide its award-winning ErgoMotion technology to Mobility Lab for distribution to retailers in France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and Spain.
