A team of researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found that an antidepressant medication may reduce the risk of recurrent depression and increase the length of time between depressive episodes in patients with diabetes.
Musculoskeletal pain is an extremely common problem. In this age of fitness promotion, many people develop musculoskeletal disorders related to overuse of weak or improperly stretched muscles, tendons or ligaments. Strenuous daily vocational activities, such as lifting, bending, or prolonged typing, can cause musculoskeletal pain through constant stress on the musculoskeletal system.
Surgical patients who receive antibiotics before certain types of low-risk operations are not at an increased risk for antibiotic-resistant infections immediately after their procedures, according to results from a large-scale study conducted by researchers from Columbia University Medical Center, New York City.
Extremely premature infants are at risk for life-threatening infections that spread into their bodies from the intestine. Infections after the first three days of life are called late-onset sepsis, or LOS.
