Member states at the 65th session of the World Health Assembly, which concluded last week, "agreed to adopt a global target of a 25 percent reduction in premature mortality from non-communicable diseases [NCDs] such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases by 2025."
Nearly two-thirds of caregivers whose loved ones suffer from the debilitating effects of Alzheimer's or related dementia say they would take medication to delay the onset of their own memory loss by even six months, if it were affordable and free of side effects.
The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition has launched its annual Income Tax Check-Off for Breast and Cervical Research campaign to fund PA researchers. By simply checking YES on line 35 of the PA 40 tax form, any taxpayer can donate all or part of their state income tax refund to breast and cervical cancer research.
Children born after their mothers were treated with chemotherapy during pregnancy appear to be unaffected by the experience in terms of the development of their mental processes and the normal functioning of their hearts, according to new research presented at the 2011 European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress.
A two-day educational symposium, "Going Radical: Creating the Hospital of the Future," may hold the key to revitalization. It will be held May 25 - 27.
