Royal Philips today introduced a new lung screening solution designed to offer health care providers a faster and more definitive pathway to lung cancer detection and treatment. Making its debut at the 2014 Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting in Chicago this week, this total solution is comprised of products and services that enable health care providers to implement and manage a comprehensive computed tomography (CT) lung screening program which tracks and guides patients across the health continuum.
Physicians, hospitals, nursing homes and home health care providers are all bracing for pain as the debt-ceiling agreement kicks in.
Mayo Clinic announced today that it has received a five-year, $11 million grant from the National Cancer Institute to study survivorship in patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). The Lymphoma Epidemiology of Outcomes Cohort Study will enroll 12,000 patients with NHL. The study will follow these patients for long-term prognosis and survivorship.
Lung cancer is the No. 1 cause of cancer deaths in the United States, despite the fact it is largely preventable. For people at high risk of developing lung cancer, such as current or former longtime smokers, screening for the disease with low-dose CT scans is now a viable option that has been shown to significantly reduce mortality rates. In conjunction with National Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) wants to raise awareness about the importance of prevention and early detection for at-risk populations.
