GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the World Health Organisation's Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (WHO-TDR) and the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) today announced the signing of a collaborative agreement, to develop a new-fixed dose artemisinin combination therapy drug (ACT), combining chlorproguanil, dapsone and artesunate (CDA) for the treatment of malaria.
ACT Biotech Inc., a privately held biotechnology company based in San Francisco, California, today announced positive interim data from a Phase 2 trial of the Company's lead oral kinase inhibitor, Telatinib, for the first-line treatment of patients with advanced gastric cancer. This proof-of-concept, multi-center, open label trial was designed to test the efficacy and safety of full-dose Telatinib, administered continuously, as a first-line treatment in combination with a standard regimen of capecitabine and cisplatin in US and European patients.
The National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark has assessed the possible toxic effects of eating ramson, which in recent years has become a popular plant to gather and eat in Denmark. As such, ramson does not contain any substances that are toxic for humans, but they can be confused with poisonous plants.
