Does living in a low-income, densely populated neighborhood such as San Francisco's Tenderloin district predispose you to a higher cancer risk than if you live in an upscale and suburban neighborhood such as San Diego's Rancho Santa Fe? Or vice versa? Scientists at the Cancer Prevention Institute of California now have the data that hold the answers.
Two separate bills have been introduced to address this health law issue, which inadvertently would make 3 million middle-income early retirees eligible for Medicaid because Social Security benefits would not be factored into their income. The fix could save $13 billion. However, it's not clear if either measure will move forward.
Researchers from Mount Sinai School of Medicine have developed a new computational method that will make it easier for scientists to identify and prioritize genes, drug targets, and strategies for repositioning drugs that are already on the market. By mining large datasets more simply and efficiently, researchers will be able to better understand gene-gene, protein-protein, and drug/side-effect interactions. The new algorithm will also help scientists identify fellow researchers with whom they can collaborate.
COVID SHIELD is a major collaborative effort led by the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in partnership with human data science company IQVIA.
A new systematic review provides a succinct summary of the scientific evidence for and/or against causal associations for 47 adverse events following immunization.
