Scientists know that vision restoration training (VRT) can help patients who have lost part of their vision due to glaucoma, optic nerve damage, or stroke regain some of their lost visual functions, but they do not understand what factors determine how much visual recovery is achieved.
Statins may not prevent venous thromboembolic events despite previous research suggesting otherwise, say researchers.
Clinical trials in which participants are randomly assigned to different treatments by design are the cornerstone of clinical research. When conducted correctly, it's widely accepted by the research community that the results are valid and can be trusted.
