High blood pressure affects more than 70 million Americans and is a major risk factor for stroke, heart failure and other renal and cardiovascular diseases. Two University of Houston College of Pharmacy researchers are examining the role of intrinsic antioxidant pathways in mitigating hypertension.
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston on Wednesday is scheduled to open the "first clinic in the world" dedicated to the research and treatment of inflammatory breast cancer, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Aptuit, Inc. today announced the publication of new research in the December issue of the European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the official journal of the European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences (EUFEPS), which describes the solid-state characterization of three forms of finasteride.
Patients who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) did not have a higher rate of death at one year compared with those who had their heart valve replaced via open-heart surgery, according to research presented at the American College of Cardiology's Annual Scientific Session Together with World Congress of Cardiology.
Understanding the genetic mutations and protein changes that take place in the progression of cancer is key to its treatment. Mutations in the gene TP53 and concomitant mutant p53 proteins in cancer cells have become notorious over the course of multiple studies of several different types of cancers.
