A study published this week by ITG revealed that Novartis recently approved drug, Gilenya, has already taken share from market leaders in the multiple sclerosis (MS) market, and uptake is expected to increase significantly over the next year. Gilenya came onto the market in late September as the first FDA-approved oral disease-modifying MS drug, and Novartis initially faced safety concerns and monitoring requirements that deterred some physicians from adopting the new drug.
Researchers at the University of Southern California (USC) have identified a novel mechanism in the regulation and differentiation of neural stem cells.
A clinical trial funded by Arthritis Research UK and the National Institute for Health Research led by professors from the Universities of Liverpool and Bristol has discovered a drug combination that could help thousands of children with arthritis.
Obese children are 74 percent more likely to sustain a fracture of the growth plate, the softer end of the bone where growth occurs. A new study presented today at the 2012 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), involved 224 children visiting a Maryland hospital with a fracture.
