Fresenius Medical Care North America, a division of Fresenius Medical Care and North America's largest provider of kidney care, hospitalist services and renal products, today hailed a new study by the Department of Health and Human Services this week showing that dialysis patients who received treatments immediately before Super Storm Sandy experienced a much better survival rate and less frequent visits to the hospital.
Osteoarthritis affects the joints, but according to researcher Michael Zuscik, PhD, it may start in the gut.
The January 3 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine "includes the first article in a series of review articles on global health," Harvey Fineberg of the Institute of Medicine and David Hunter of the Harvard School of Public Health write in an NEJM editorial.
A February 2011 survey of 344 seniors 65 and older revealed that 71%1 have shopped for physicians, and 77% of those who do shop end up choosing a physician based on whether he or she accepts their insurance. The survey also revealed that the number one reason seniors shop for a physician, chosen by 63% of respondents, is to choose a specialist.
