Low levels of vitamin D are commonly found in people with type 1 diabetes. But even children who have multiple positive islet autoantibodies without manifest type 1 diabetes have lower levels of vitamin D in their blood.
In response to the recent deaths from multiple house fires in the City of Cleveland, The American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland in partnership with the City of Cleveland Fire Department, is conducting an Operation Save-A-Life Fire Safety Walk on the near west-side of Cleveland on Monday, November 23, 2009.
Modern scientific understanding has considered multiple sclerosis (MS) to be a disease controlled by the T cell, a type of white blood cell. Research has shown that in MS, T cells inappropriately attack myelin, the protective layer of fat covering nerves in the central nervous system, exposing them to damage.
Houston Methodist researchers developed a new lab-on-a-chip technology that could quickly screen possible drugs to repair damaged neuron and retinal connections, like what is seen in people with macular degeneration or who've had too much exposure to the glare of electronic screens.
AbbVie, a global biopharmaceutical company, today announced that it will advance ABT-494, its internally developed investigational selective JAK1 inhibitor, to Phase 3 studies in rheumatoid arthritis. Following a thorough review of available data, AbbVie will not exercise its right to in-license the Galapagos JAK1 inhibitor, filgotinib.
