Boston Scientific Corporation has enrolled the first patients in its NECTAR-HF (NEural Cardiac TherApy foR Heart Failure) clinical trial. NECTAR-HF is a prospective, randomized, international clinical feasibility study designed to assess preliminary safety and efficacy of chronic vagal nerve stimulation in heart failure patients.
The paper based on the study undertaken by the team of Lithuanian researchers was bestowed Paper of the Year award by The Congress of Neurological Surgeons, USA. The paper "Association of Severe TBI Patients' Outcomes with Duration of Cerebrovascular Autoregulation Impairment Events" was awarded in Neurotrauma & Critical Care section.
A new study published in the journal PLOS Biology has revealed diverse microbial populations can facilitate vaginal colonization of pathogens, which in turn can prolong the characteristics of bacterial vaginosis, a condition characterized by an imbalance of vaginal microbiome. The study findings also provide evidence linking oral sex with bacterial vaginosis.
