Researchers discover that a specialized part of the chromosomes, essential for a correct cell division, is smaller and weaker in stem cells, when compared to the ones of differentiated cells.
Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company today reported on data from oral presentations of VELCADE® (bortezomib) for Injection based therapy in multiple myeloma presented at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). These data highlight VELCADE based therapy in both transplant and non-transplant eligible previously untreated multiple myeloma patients, as well as VELCADE used as induction and/or maintenance therapy.
The body is structured to ensure that any invading organisms have a tough time reaching the brain, an organ obviously critical to survival. Known as the blood-brain barrier, cells that line the brain and spinal cord are tightly packed, making it difficult for anything besides very small molecules to cross from the bloodstream into the central nervous system.
