The University of Liverpool has received a £390,000 grant from Medical Research Council to conduct research into how mutations in genes can cause epilepsy.
Arthritis researchers from North America and Europe will convene in Chicago this week to present new osteoarthritis research that could lead to better ways to detect, treat, prevent and cure osteoarthritis, which affects 27 million Americans.
Researchers at the RIKEN Evolutionary Morphology Laboratory and the University of Tokyo in Japan have determined that the eardrum evolved independently in mammals and diapsids-the taxonomic group that includes reptiles and birds. Published in Nature Communications, the work shows that the mammalian eardrum depends on lower jaw formation, while that of diapsids develops from the upper jaw.
TLC Vision Corporation, North America's premier eye care services company, today announced that further to its press release issued on December 21, 2009, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware has granted the relief the Company and two of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, TLC Vision (USA) Corporation and TLC Management Services Inc., requested in its "First Day Motions" filed in conjunction with its voluntary petitions under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
Scientists are focusing in on promising research aimed at finding a cure for hydrocephalus; and a new initiative funded by the Hydrocephalus Association, the largest private funder of hydrocephalus research in the United States, is uniting these researchers to accelerate their progress.
