A united front is needed to tackle childhood obesity effectively, according to researchers at the University of Hertfordshire's Weight and Obesity Research Group.
Although some data have suggested that omega-3 fatty acid supplements, such as from fish oil, may improve treatment of atrial fibrillation, a randomized trial with more than 600 patients finds that treatment with high-dose prescription omega-3 did not reduce the recurrence of atrial fibrillation over six months, according to a study that will appear in the December 1 issue of JAMA. The study is being released early online because it will be presented at the American Heart Association's annual meeting.
Researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the University of California, San Francisco, have completed a new historical analysis of the 38-year struggle to provide a prescription drug benefit to seniors as part of Medicare.
A clinical trial designed to test existing drugs in the treatment of a rare blood cancer has been launched at the Universities of Birmingham and Warwick.
The most recent research released in June's Journal of Thoracic Oncology indicates there might be a positive correlation between tumor size and adjuvant platinum based chemotherapy in surgically resected patients with node negative non-small cell lung cancer.
